Well summer holidays have started and the weather has started to act like summer as well. We had our bike rodeo on Sunday. The boys and girls seemed to have a great time as there was lots of laughter from the participants. There were trophies and prizes for the winners.
This Saturday is our annual Fishing Derby and Fish Fry. Please register Friday night or early Saturday morning if you are fishing. The fish must be weighted in by 3:00 p.m. the fish fry is at 5:00 p. m. behind the Rec Hall and prizes will be awarded at 6:00 p.m.. There is a $5.00 entry fee. This covers the fishing derby and supper. If you don't want to fish you can still pay $5.00 and have supper. There are four categories Men, Ladies, Boys and Girls and hidden weight.
Christmas in July is July 21st, please check with girls at Rec Hall to find out how this works if you are unsure. We are having a bike decorating contest and games etc beginning at noon. We will be welcoming Santa with a bike parade when he arrives at 3:00 p.m.. We are selling raffle tickets $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00, to be drawn at this time. Proceeds to the Rec Fund. The prizes are three beautiful pieces of furniture made and donated by G. Badour.
I want to thank all the volunteers who are helping with Bingo, 50/50 and other activities. It is an enormous help and is greatly appreciated. The purchase of 50/50 tickets is not compulsory. We use this money for Christmas in July, Beach day b.b.q., for prizes, trophies etc for all the various occasions.
The new pool steps and liner are in and are great. Please remember that there is no diving in the pool. The pool is only 4 feet deep so is much too shallow to dive in. It is dangerous to dive in the pool and if there is any diving the Health Department has the right to close the pool, indefinitely. SWIMMING POOL please remember that the rules about age to swim alone etc are set by the government not by us. If we fail to comply they can close our pool. Our pool heater has been removed because we have invested a great deal of Rec Fund money and our own money in it, and it only runs a couple of days and another expensive part goes. We are going to install a solar heater.
There has been some interest expressed in an adult only swim and we feel that is it a good idea. we will try it for one hour on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Wed evening the time will be 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday evenings 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. We will begin the adult swim on July 11th and on July 14th, if this works without any problems we will continue it for the summer.
Sewers in the campground can be blocked easily if the wrong things are put down toilets and sinks. Remember absolutely no female hygiene products can be flushed and please try and eliminate as much grease as possible.
